This gallery is different than the others for many reasons, one being that they are photographed once and never again. The countries include Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya and Senegal. Some belong to tribes sought after by photographers, while some come across the path of the lens by chance.
All portraits are made on film, with a full conversation beforehand. Each has their own story, and shares 1/60 of a second with the photographer. Being allowed to be the messenger is the greatest privilege.
